Wakefield School Excursion/Sports Tops

Apart from the excursion top described below, Wakefield School does not have a uniform.

Students are expected to dress appropriately for school and to take pride in their appearance. Clothing must conform to Sunsmart expectations (e.g. no bare shoulders), and be appropriate for sports and activity (e.g. suitable footwear for running and playing sport). A wide-brimmed sunhat must be worn in terms 1 and 4.

An excursion top must be worn on school outings and when representing the school at sports and other events.  From June 2016 every student who enrols at Wakefield School is required to own an excursion top.  Previously the excursion top was compulsory in Years 3-6 only, but we have changed the policy to include children from new entrants to Year 2 because:

  • it is desirable that junior children have an excursion top for class trips and outings so they can be easily identified in public and at events that bring together local schools

  • we now have more junior children joining school sports teams

  • an excursion top encourages pride in the school.

The school excursion top is made from fabric that is breathable, easy to dry, durable and sun smart (UP25).  Tops are sold through the school office and ideally would be purchased at the time of enrolment.

An order form, with photos, sizes and prices of the tops can be found here.
